Any suggestions or experiences with these trucks.

I have a Colorado. I just couldn't pull the trigger on a Tacoma for 35K. I paid $20,580 for a 2016 Colorado WT Extended Cab 4 cylinder last October. I just wanted a basic truck as my daily driver. No issues with mine so far.

If I needed a real truck I would go full size.

Thats not bad for a basic truck. The local Chevy dealer where I live has some 2017 Colorado's LT (crew cab) listed for 28,500. They are the 4 cylinder though.
