Tournament championships are not "conference championships". The SEC Championship goes to the regular season winner. The tournament championship is a different title, and is not the conference championship.

I always enjoy when fans pick and choose when one is more relevant than the other.
A conference championship is still a conference championship. The SEC still gives a championship trophy for either one.
