It's pretty rare to see a team as hot as this team was completely fold like a cheap tent. Let's theorize why this team has complete fallen apart.
I think finals week rust killed them against Alabama and now they are mentally shaken. I have no basis for this theory but it seems as reasonable to me as anything.

Their bats were never anything more than mediocre. The bullpen was never more than abysmal.
That's really all it boils down to.

Look back at some of the wins and you'll find we benefitted from a bit of good fortune or the other teams inability to expose our poor play. It feels to me like the law of averages are taking its toll. I still believe this team and the program are heading in the proper direction long term.

Baseball is a weird sport to analyze sometimes. The main thing to go for in baseball is win most of your home games and try to go over .500 on the road. That is what the team did this year.
The starters on the team are pretty good and will help you win most of the games. There is only one great hitter on the team(Todd) and the rest are above average or just average. It wasn't recipe for a great team, but enough to get the team into postseason play.
The team is heading in the right direction under Thompson.

Imagine what our hitting would have been had Addison Russell and David Dahl come to Auburn?
Russell was listed as a top 10 player under 25 by ESPN, Dahl hit >.300 last year in 70 games (DL this year)
If we had those two, we could make a run

Yup, then they both got taken back to back in the draft and our baseball hopes died
