IMO, Key really wasted his 1 declaration without signing with an agent. He should have waited till after this year to insure a combine invite. He declared for nothing.

Well hopefully Key sees what it takes to go to the league and elevates his effort.

quote:AMEN!!! The entire idea of him even being a thought to any NBA team at this point is ridiculous. This kid needs to get his head into helping his team do as well as possible, and forget about all this ME-ME-ME crap. That's his only hope of getting the NBA to pay him any attention.

But let's not just say he's all about himself. He may really have only entered the draft to get better, he may have never even truly considered leaving this year. We don't know.

If I had to guess what's going on with Key:
Thursday night he probably told Avery he's coming back. Today he probably had to send in the paperwork Avery was talking about. As soon as that gets done and it's actually official, they'll announce it publicly.
That sound about right?

Key may have told the team and coaches all along that he was coming back and that he was doing this just to get feedback. But us as fans don't know, so he caused uncertainty for us, but possibly not the team. Like I said, we don't know what went on. So it's unfair to call him selfish, imo.

I mean is it really foolish 6'8 and can do it all. He has the tools just doesn't really have that dog in him. Sometimes you just need a jump start. If he gets that he will be OK.

I can appreciate your loyalty, but highly doubt that this all was a plan that CAJ would readily go along with.
Firstly, any NBA scout, coach or GM can watch his game film for 30 minutes and know all they need to know about his game and what he needs to work on. Hell, he's got a head coach who has coached NBA championship teams, played in the league for years, and can get him a total NBA critique with just a couple of phone calls.
Finally, this Alabama team needs stability at this point as much as it needs anything, and Key ain't helping the program by taking this approach.
In conclusion, what you said in another post is my hope for the kid and our basketball program. I hope he's got his ego in check and somebody that he trusts has given him a road map of what he's going to have to work on to even be able to be considered NBA material. Let's cross our fingers.

quote:6'8s are running all over today's college basketball courts and KEY can't do it all...yet. He's not very quick, at this point, his game is dull (no moves or special skills to free him up for an open shot), needs work on passing skills, often goes brain-dead (way too many stupid turnovers...yes, that's laziness, too), and I could go on but I think you catch my drift. The kid needs a TON of work to even be considered in the same breath as the NBA....let's hope he's willing to put in the work to get there.

Distracting his team from what? It's the off-season, genius. There was nothing wrong with what he did. He tested the waters, found out what he needed to improve on, and returned to school. You're being ridiculous...
