I'd never put my closer in for a 3 inning outing in March....not in college....I mean you think the Yankees would have threw Rivera for 3 innings vs the Red Sox in May...hell no.

he brought Newman in with 1 out in the 7th inning. So he essentially asked him to go 3 innings, he just waited until the lead was gone to do so. Newman hadn't pitched since Tuesday and only threw 9 pitches then.

Yea but you didn't know all that to start the 7th.

I'm just saying you are going to need someone down the line to come in in the 7th inning and get outs. We need to find out if that guy can be Peterson. We also are going to need pitchers that can pitch out of jams....we are trying to figure out if that is Peterson too.

Now is the time in the season to figure all that out.

Besides, let just say that Newman had went in to start the 7th and went out like Doug Norman did against the 1st batter.....we'd all be screaming why the hell was the closer in in the 7th. I'm just saying I can understand why Newman didn't come in to start the 7th and why you stuck with Peterson when he got in a little trouble in the inning.

Like I said my bigger concern here is the fact that Newman didn't close the door...if he would have we would have played free baseball.
