Dan Mullen won 5 games in 2016. He is no genius. South Alabama beat State and Mullen started a 150 lb TB until he got hurt and was forced to play the back-up

Mullen has been State's coach for 8 years- and has won 6 or less regular season games in 4 of those.

And that's as good as it's gonna get because, let's face it, you're Mississippi State. The winningest coach in your program's history won 75 games over 13 seasons. And he had to accomplish most of that by cheating.

I like what Dan has done here. My only problem is with this past season, he didn't deliver. He sat 3 and sometimes 4 capable RB's in favor of a smaller scat back that couldn't get short yardage. He didn't stop doing it until late in the season. That was quite insane, and inexplicable. That and hiring Sirmon, site unseen, who was not anywhere close to ready to being a DC, and may never be.
