The word is that he had no choice in the matter. Higher ups told him that he couldn't tell the players that they couldn't kneel and then they left him to take the heat.

I've heard that too but I just don't see how it's true when Anderson told his players no. Were they scared of how the predominately black female players would react to being told no by a white man while a black man telling predominately black men no is all good? It's baffling how two folks in the same building handled the issue so differently.
