To play devils advocate, he's never had the competition in conference either.

I never expected a great team this year and understand it takes time...but there's really not an excuse for 10-7 with this schedule. That's not all on Goff of course, but it's not exactly a cause for optimism either. Getting swept by oral Roberts and dropping games to teams like JSU and Samford is just piss poor

Dropping midweek games is nothing new. That was a constant under Gaspard. Dropping weekend series against OOC competition wasn't. But it's still a rebuilding year of pretty big proportions. I think I overestimated what Alabama had coming back. And I didn't estimate it that high to begin with.
