What’s done is done. I can’t stand the pumping... and nothing is for certain until there is ink on the paper ... and then you might have some shithead lawyer trying to get their client out of the deal.

But I’m going to hope we get a flip or two. After that ... he’s got a year to get a great class put together. If he can’t do that ... while putting together a great recruiting staff... then A&M needs to see how to change its perception both inside the state and nationally. I say that because it’s proof positive that man can recruit.

A&M does have a series negative perception in the state. Nearly ever person I know feels the need to tell me that A&M will never compete in the SEC and that it was a mistake to leave the XII. I always point out that the past six years under Sumlin were much better than the previous six, all while playing the SEC. Then I talk about how wildly successful the entire athletic program has been in the league, and how we are second in overall championships since we joined. They always answer by repeating that we will never win in the SEC.

There is a serious negative perception out there that Jimbo must overcome. I hope he realizes this and has a plan to overcome it.

I am also starting to believe that the reason A&M has to pay so much for a quality coach is because we have a reputation in the coaching circles as being a place where it is very hard to win, despite having the best of everything. Jimbo may be up for the challenge, but if he fails then it will be obvious that we are destined for a future that is similar to our past.

I don’t know if anyone saw the Allen - LT game. But the sophomore who stepped into the game as QB when their Ohio State bound QB got hurt ... has an offer from us. He started all year at WR. He played a great game against Allen. Ryan Tannehill clone.
