Miami safety coach Ephraim Banda, cornerback coach Mike Rumph and director of player personnel Matt Doherty got a little creative on Thursday night.
With Top100 safety Josh Jobe back in South Florida for a funeral the three staff members took advantage of a new NCAA recruiting rule which allows for them to meet with a prospective student athlete off campus as long as it's within a mile of the school.
Per the NCAA handbook:
13.7.4 Off-Campus Contact Within One Mile of Campus Boundaries. Off-campus contact between an institutional staff member and a prospective student-athlete (and those accompanying the prospective student-athlete) and off-campus contact between an enrolled student-athlete and a prospective student-athlete (and those accompanying the prospective student-athlete) may occur during an unofficial visit within one mile of campus boundaries.
Banda, Rumph and Doherty all ate dinner with Jobe at a restaurant in Coral Gables. They were joined at the table by Top247 defensive back commit Gilbert Frierson and three-star cornerback commit D.J. Ivey.
While Jobe continues to play up both Michigan and Alabama on social media, InsideTheU continues to hear that he tells the Hurricanes all the right things behind the scenes. The same can be said about Frierson, who continues to have his name linked to Georgia as a potential flip destination.
Jobe (6-1, 180) is spending his senior season up at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut. He will then play at the U.S. Army All-American Game in January before enrolling early at the school of his choice.

The NCAA makes all of these stupid arse rules and they have no way to police them. It's so damn crazy.
