Alabama hosted four-star receiver Tommy Bush on an unofficial visit Friday, the Schertz (Texas) Samuel Clemens product’s first time on campus.

“Bama, they really impressed me,” Bush told BamaOnLine. “After talking with the coaches, seeing the campus, seeing the depth chart at receiver and who they’re going to need, I feel pretty confident about it. I believe they’ll have my interest for sure.”

Bush, who received an offer from the Tide staff earlier this spring, went further in-depth about specific standout features of the visit.

“I guess the atmosphere of it,” he said. “The media and stuff make it seem like a horrible place strictly for football, but it’s really not that at all. Then to hear the coaches and how specific they are with their work, their game plan impressed me. I’m happy about the way they did things yesterday.”

The visit wasn’t complete without a sit-down meeting with head coach Nick Saban.

“My physical attributes,” Bush said of what Saban likes about him. “The depth chart, he doesn’t really have my size at the X. He has other receivers at the Z and what not, but X receiver I’m looking pretty good for. We had already talked academics on the phone, so this visit was strictly football and how successful you can be outside of football.”

“It was really cool to meet great coaches like him. Get a chance to have one-on-ones with him is really special. You see him on TV. It’s really awesome. It’s a blessing to be able to experience this. My family enjoyed it, too.”

Bush was only able to meet with Saban and running backs coach Burton Burns during the trip. He did text wide receivers coach Mike Locksley and FaceTimed offensive coordinator Brian Daboll while he was on campus.

“He’s a really funny guy,” Bush said of Daboll. “His experience in the NFL I believe is like 17 years. That says right away his offensive game plan is right on point. And he was on the Patriots. I like the way he was talking yesterday. I wish I could have met him in person, but it was still good to talk to him.”

Bush said he isn’t sure that Alabama will receive an official visit, since Tuscaloosa is more accessible to him than schools up north.

While he has no leaders, Bama certainly helped itself in the long run on Friday.

“I’m pretty confident they will be in the running,” Bush said. “I’ll probably make my list right before the season and give it thought. They did make a great impression yesterday. I’m pretty confident in them.”

At 6-foot-4.5, 191 pounds, Bush is rated the No. 33 receiver and the No. 170 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Baylor is the Crystal Ball favorite at 80 percent.
