We offered Dalvin Cook's little brother even though he is committed to Florida State already. He was originally supposed to be in the Class of 2019 too:

SPALDING, Ga. — After a freshman year that created some buzz due to his size, athleticism and playmaking ability at that age, Zion Puckett went down with an ankle injury in game two in 2016 as a sophomore.

He missed the remainder of the season, but he is back and he is back in a big way. Schools have been out to evaluate the 6-foot-1, 195 pound athlete out of Spalding (Ga.) and his recruitment is heating up.

Over the last few weeks, he has picked up his first five offers.

"Wake Forest, Alabama, Florida State, Kentucky and Tennessee have all offered me this spring," said Puckett. "It has really happened quick. It has been pretty exciting."

The first school to offer Puckett was Tennessee. The star athlete was in Knoxville (Tenn.) late in April for the Volunteer's spring game and he left with an offer.

"I liked it up there. I like their facilities, I like the indoor field and I had a good time. The atmosphere was good, it was a fun environment and they really welcomed me.

"I do have some interest in them. They were first to offer me, I had a good time on my visit and it is a school I will get back to."

With the injury last year, Puckett has not visited many college campuses yet, so he does not know much about the schools that have offered outside of Tennessee other than what he has seen on T.V.

The only other school the 2019 athlete has visited is Georgia and that took place during his freshman year.

"I am hearing from Georgia, they are showing interest, but they have not offered me yet. Coach [Tray] Scott (defensive line) came through last week and I know he is looking at me.

"I would like to have an offer from them. I like their offense, they have some good players and I may camp there this summer."

Puckett has a lot of schools in mind for summer visits. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Georgia are some on his list. He is ready to venture out, showcase his ability and start to evaluate schools.

For the next couple of weeks though, he will focus on school, spring practice and keep enjoying the infant stages of being a top recruit.

"I am just going to stay humble throughout the process," said Puckett. "I am just going to keep working. I had a feeling offers would come, but these came fast and it has been a little surprising. It is something I have been working for."

Schools are offering Puckett as an athlete. He could project as a wide receiver or safety on the next level.

Rivals100 OL Cardell Thomas still strong with LSU, but other visits coming

The Latest: As one of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2019, it's not surprising to see other programs recruiting Rivals100 offensive lineman Kardell Thomas, despite his commitment to LSU. So do the Tigers have anything to worry about? Rivals.com caught up with Thomas to talk about his commitment and some of the programs trying to make a run to get him to reconsider his decision.

In His Words: "My commitment to LSU is still strong. I'm looking into a lot of other colleges but things with LSU is still very strong. There's never a time where they don't treat me like I'm their No. 1 guy."

On his loyalty to the Tigers: "It means a lot that they were my first offer. They started recruiting me in the eighth grade and I showed them even though I'm young I can compete. The next year I came back and they offered me and took my commitment. It's big because me being so young they had to see something in me. I was 15 at the time and they knew that I would be a guy they want to play for them."

Thoughts on LSU's spring game: "I liked what I got to see from the offense. There was the thunder storm and that kind of cut things short but it was nice. I liked it. They told me no matter what they do with the offense they will still be running behind me."

On Florida: "The Florida offer just came into today and that kind of caught my eye. The offensive line coach, he coached at my school and he was a teacher there and him being at Florida, it’s culture, he’s in the family. We kind of have a connection and I look forward to getting to know him better. I know Florida is a nice school and they win a lot of games so that caught my attention."

On future visits: "I'm going to Texas, I'm going to camp at Alabama and I plan on going to Florida, Auburn, Georgia and Miami this summer."

Rivals Reaction: It's hard to imagine Thomas ending up at anywhere but LSU, but the fact that he will be taking visits this summer at least gives schools a chance to show him what they can offer. But a player of his abilities rarely gets out of LSU's backyard and the fact that he's already committed only compounds the chances of him playing his college ball in Baton Rouge.

Isaiah Hazel thought a few times about what it would be like to visit Alabama, and now the four-star receiver from Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise has a huge reason to make it a priority.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound fluid athlete, the No. 27 receiver in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite 2019 class, was offered by the Crimson Tide on Friday, and he is thrilled about it.

Brian Perroni is reporting Vernon Jackson made it to A&M for his official visit as planned. Apparently Jackson was really sick this past week, but he still made it in.

Perroni also said Jackson made an unofficial visit to College Station a few weeks ago and had to drive through a snowstorm to get there.

He gone.
