This NOT on the previous coaching staff...they spent almost his entire frosh r/s season trying to get him to stop his windmill delivery style. I could plainly see from high school videos, his first spring game that he was way way too emotional and excitable. The only thing the previous staff was guilty of was starting him game one. He had never taken a college snap before and I knew the moment was too big for him. They waited too long to bench him imo.
It is and it isn't to some degree. They should have went with option 2 a lot earlier -- and not given up on Del Rio so quickly.
That being said: You can't blame the coaching staff that had him for two years for doing mistakes you learn not to do in Peewee leagues.
I'm happy about having either Corral or Trask start next year and hopefully we can get a very highly recruited player in two/three years to back them up, or even a diamond in the rough.
Franks won't start again, I don't think.

Abolverdi: The Gators are in good shape with Corral, but they still have some work to do before the early signing period.
He officially visited Ole Miss last weekend and I’m told the Rebels made a strong impression on him and his family. Their staff has been consistent and honest with their recruitment of Corral, and his skill set is better suited for Mississippi’s offense.
Corral is still committed to Florida and that’s where he wants to end up. However, he needs to form a relationship with Gators coach Dan Mullen and quarterback coach Brian Johnson and get a better understanding for how he will be used in their scheme.
Corral’s in-home visit with them was a positive step in that direction, but his trip to UF this weekend could make or break his commitment. He has a bond with the Ole Miss coaches and fits what they do offensively. That must be established with Florida as well.

I'm not worried about Corral at this point.
Any guy that wants to go to a school that's going to be under a microscope because they couldn't keep their nose clean probably shouldn't come to Florida.
His best case scenario is he takes a redshirt and hopes that team eats dick for him to even see the field in 2019. If he's smart, he'll be a Gator, if he's not, it's probably better that he's not here with us.

It's pathetic watching you bash Grier, Franks and now corral. Youre like a jilted ex.

Can you take this shite somewhere else? I swear man, all you want to do is fight.
1. Grier took PEDs, I'm against PEDs, are you not?
2. Franks is verifiably bad and shows no real quarterbacking skills that are readily available on Google. shite, just play some Playstation.
3. If someone picks Ole Miss on probation over Florida with a whole new, better coaching staff -- he is probably not a winner.
It's not really debatable.

Not one QB lit up up in Macs offense, not ONE out of how many?? That should tell you guys something.
Even Grier was so so, its true. Now in a different system he damn near led the Nation in Tds
Like I said, I give EVERY QB a clean slate, we have one of the best QB developers in College on our sideline now so let the chips fall where they may.
Oh yeah, if Matt wants OM over us then frick him. We have plenty of talent on this offense to be productive.
Lets get the coaching staff lined up and get this thing rolling.

Eh, quarterbacks sucking is not exclusive to McElwain. When was the last quarterback that was productive? 2009 Tim Tebow?
Brantley: Failure.
Driskel: Failure.
Brisset: Failure.
Treon: Failure.
Grier: Druggie.
Appleby: Decent, but not good.
Del Rio: Decent, but not good.
Franks: Statistically, unequivocally the worst quarterback we've had to suit up. Just for fun:
Franks: 54.4%, 124 completions, 1,432 yards, 8/8. (TD, INT)
Driskel 2012: 63.7%, 156 completions, 1,646 yards, 12/5.
Driskel also had 300 yards on the ground more than Franks.
Driskel, possibly the most shite-talked quarterback in modern Florida football, completed 10% more of his passes, over 25 more and had over 200 yards, 4 more touchdowns and 3 less interceptions.
Franks is not a good QB, he's not even a mediocre QB. He does everything wrong at quarterback and if Driskel can clown him, anyone can clown him.
If Mullen can teach him how to be even a semi-competent QB in 6 months, Mullen's a miracle worker.

So you agree that his offense sucked just as bad as those prior

Just remember Driskell transferred to LA Tech and looked damn good. Hopefully Mullen can do that with Franks.

To dbuchanon first: If they had designed the offense to fix Zaire the offense would have been fine. But yes, a pro offense under McElwain was flat out embarrassing.
To Driskel transferring: I actually said that Driskel was a good quarterback (and took a shite ton of flak on this board for it) -- but that's because he showed actual signs of knowing how a quarterback functions. Driskel was held back by playcalling.
Even when the play is there, and guys are open all over downfield and the playcalling is right -- Franks has no vision to actually see them.
If you can't see the field, can't read a defense, don't know when to throw it away, don't know how the pocket works, can't help but stare down your receiver and don't have the raw mobility to extend the play -- there's really not much someone can do in a Summer.
Franks is still a good year away from being able to be decent and learn how the QB position actually works.

A fricking raiders fan calling someone trash? That's hilarious. eat a bag of dicks. In this thread straws has ripped Grier, Franks and Corral. Corral has been loyal til the end. It's not his fault Stricklin hired Mullen. He's going to do what's best for him. Excuse me for defending gator players and pointing out his B'S. Go play in traffic or go back to GatorCountry. Either way frick you and your trash raiders.

Lol at you guys getting pissed at corral. Ole miss fits his skill set. I doubt Mullen changes his system to fit him and we get another square peg in a circle. I guess you guys loved it watching Brantley run the option or driskel trying to be a drop back passing QB. The people you frick off too are the Jordan Smith, Jamar Hornsby, Aaron Hernandez, not a kid who's trying to get to the league

frick you TJ because you're an a-hole
If Corral isn't a fit then he isn't a fit. He's been loyal to Florida through everything at this point. I hope he ends up at Florida, but if he isn't what Mullen wants then I don't want Mullen to take him just because he is highly rated in the recruiting services.
if Mullen thinks he can be used in our system, then I want him. If he does not, I hate it for Matt because he wants to be a Gator but he has to do what is best for him, and I'll root for him when he's at Ole Miss.

I take it theres no new recruiting news since this board has turned into the fkn days of our lives thread starring Matt Corral

247 Visitor list
Lock up Corral and get Radley-Hiles and Dean to commit.
Thornton and Reese should be wrapped up.
Huggins seems one safety too many even with Burney moving to LB/S hybrid.
Maybe we are expecting some turnover at the position.

No one's pissed at Corral, man. You're being a martyr against something no one is saying and you're being a little snarky piece of shite about it.
Ole Miss had sanctions levied against them, will lose scholarships, won't bowl his first year there and just lost like half of their fricking team to transfers, then de-commitments?
I was saying: If he really wants to go to a school that's going to have the stink of NCAA sanctions under a microscope and that's going to suck mighty dick for at least another five years -- well really there's nothing we can do.
