As WU stated, they win some games with these kids in the stands and everything changes. That is more dependent on what Hill, Haley and Brian Odom do with their position groups than anything the HC is doing. Ford and Cross aren't going to quit recruiting him, either.

Yes to this. Nothing is done until signing day. The Steers put up another season like the last few seasons and his commitment probably won't be so solid.

San Diego guy - Please get off this board.

I don't know what your deal is, but your negative view of Odom appears to be personal. Did he dump your daughter in college or something?

"The HC is where it all starts and where the buck stops. BOs ego is why we have the current assts and who by his position is required to LEAD. Because he chose to avoid strong leaders who may have conflicted with his "ego" their shortcomings are his shortcomings, no excuses. This applies not only to on field performance but recruiting as well."

What are you talking about? He has hired guys that have proven themselves at other successful P5 schools. He did not go hire a bunch of unproven D3 coaches. His OL coach choice is looking genius so far. His OC coach choice was a big step in the right direction after the monstrosity we saw in Pinkel's final year. He kept Ford and Hill for recruiting purposes.

Like many of your arguments on this board, this one makes no sense.

I guess this could explain a lot of SD's issues with HCBO - when I read this it screams "you didn't hire Coach Kul as your DC!" We'll never know how that would have worked out, but it did not appear that they would've necessarily worked well together.

In addition to being a true son, BO was in fact an in demand DC. It's not like if KState hires Snyder's son. If we make this hire a year later and someone like Les Miles is sitting there available maybe they go for the big name rather than promoting from within, but that's not what occurred. Big candidates weren't lining up to coach here and fight off all the baggage MU has acquired the last few years on the recruiting trail.

BO's the coach, and now he needs to win. If they can win 8+ games this year he has a chance to get some of the remaining MO kids or even flip some of those that have verballed elsewhere. They've not signed elsewhere yet. Winning is the key.

As for Adoye (sp), something I read said the DC at Texas (Orlando?) had previously successfully recruited his brother, so there was a familial connection.
