It makes one wonder though. Nebraska was as consistent as a program could be from 1960-2000. Most of their roster from within a 500 mile radius, falling mostly in the region on your map. Did the talent dry up? Did they suffer that bad from scholarship reductions? The loss of the county scholarship program for walkons in that state?

Losing the partial qualifiers hurt them. Also, they were one of the "it" schools for a long time. With everyone on TV now, they're just another school that's in the middle of nowhere.

I still can't believe they hired Bill Callahan. Blows my mind.

Don't forget about their "strength & conditioning" program.Other schools caught up and roid testing somehow put an end to all their Outland trophy winners...imagine that!

Also their walkon program was famous for by-passing scholarship limits.Somwhow kids from all ovdr the country were walking on in Lincoln and turning down scholarships from local schools.
