There's two things going on. Either some of these people truly don't understand football and the level of competency of a freshman QB, or they're closet bigots.

The guy is only going to get better, but, sure, let's start over with ANOTHER freshman who will have the same damned problems.

The majority grilling him were probably chanting Hurts for Heisman. The should take a page from his book and not get too high or too low.

That doesn't compute because many of those that think Hurts isn't playing well look forward to the possibility of Tagovailoa maybe being able to run AND pass. It is without a doubt that Tua will be a freshman next year, and last time I looked, his skin color (as if that matters) looks a lot like Hurts'.

Know what I mean?

edit: As for Hurts regressing, I agree with the poster that says he hasn't regressed. He is facing better competition but moreover, teams have learned that he isn't really good right now at the forward pass.

I said earlier in the season, more than once actually (it's in the post history) that there was going to come a time he would have to beat the other team with his arm. It didn't take a PhD in football to determine that.

It isn't just his lack of passing efficiency. He isn't really a good game manager right now either, and as I suggested before, I think he's kind of scared.

There it is. The good old "if you criticize our QB, then you must be a racist" argument.

Never mind that AJ, McElroy, and Coker all received harsh criticism from our fan base at one time or another.
