Women should stop caring so much about what other people think.

Easier for us say (as men) than girls, however, there is something to be said for teaching women to stand up for what they truly value, whether or not that meets the prevailing culture of modern times. Nothing wrong with the woman being the breadwinner (hell, Aggiebelle and I have taken turns assuming that role since we've been married). Also nothing wrong with a gal wanting to be a housewife--that shite ain't easy, and it takes someone secure in themselves to commit to something that doesn't come with the tangible/monetary accolades and recognition of working outside the home.

This is becoming less personal and more general and political which I planned

Not talking about my wife or any one woman in particular but overall it's definitely tough. Imagine the reaction from plenty of parents, teachers, or the mass media if a little girl said she wants to grow up and be a homemaker and have lots of babies and clean and cook for her husband. In pop culture this model is lampooned and outdated amd misogynist. Rarely shown in a positive light in tv and movies, all the focus is on strong indepedent career women. Third wave feminism kicked off in the 60s with The Feminist Mystique, a book entirely about shaming the housewife

Generally I think a lot of women in this country are so unhappy denying their true instincts for this life because it's been beat into them that it makes them weak and lesser-than. And that pride will not let them overcome it and it's sad
