Money only buys happiness to a point. It really just eliminates unhappiness. Once you have enough money to live on comfortably day to day and you eliminate real money stress, there is no added happiness benefit. All you can do then is buy stuff to distract from your unhappiness.

This country is full of miserable well-off people trying to fill a void everyday with material gains. And people who are miserable because they struggle to pay the bills. The only content ones are those who are happy with the life they have outside of money concerns (personal, social, family, etc) and can live that life they want within their means. They may be rich, poor, or middle but they know what they want, they have what they want, and they can support it

I grew up in a single income family and have lived in a single income home for almost 25 years.

Everything you said is true. Having a homemaker is the true key to happiness for all parties.

That and a well paying job.

This is the single biggest life lesson a young adult needs to learn.

And most of this could be solved by simply living within your means

Genro,

Motherfricking slow golf clap. Couldn't agree with you more!

Wife transition to a SAHM once we had our first and we've not looked back. I can't tell you one thing I'm wanting for now that I have my family and I can't tell you one thing my kids are wanting for either. We don't give them everything they want, we don't chase the dollar. We eat as a family, we take trips now and then, but we mostly have experiences TOGETHER and just hang out.

frick trying to get all of the things out there. The happiness people seek is staring them in the face if they look, and the price tag is free.
