I said from the get go that I hoped Bert was not our Kragthorpe. Part of me thought there was no way Bert could be that because of his coaching pedigree. Now, not so much.

Kragthorpe followed Petrino and in 3 years went 15-21, but got the program cleansed of all wrong doing and trouble makers. Strong then followed him up and won 23 games in his last two years, and 37 games overall in four years.

I guess we will see, but my patience is wearing thin.

The thing about Bert that gives me pause is the fact that he's never had to "build" anything or be part of a program rebuilding effort. As a player or coach, he's only ever been part of programs that had already been built by longterm, entrenched coaches. He played under and then be became an assistant for Hayden Frye (20 years at Iowa), then Bill Snyder (currently in his 25th year at KSU), then Barry Alvarez (16 years at Wisconsin, still the AD).

Point being that he's never walked into a bad situation or had to facilitate a complete rebuild of a program.

For that reason, I think he'd be the perfect candidate to replace Bill Snyder at Kansas State when he retires. Now I just need to figure out who to call...
