I disagree. Would make it even more tempting to just give it to the best player on the championship team

Possibly, but those games are all part of the season.
Imagine if LF7 had won the Heisman, yet sat out the bowl game, meanwhile DW4 played in 4 more games racking ip big numbers?

I thought of that, it's a fair argument. But I don't think that's enough of a reason to award it before the season is over, when it is supposed to be about the whole season. Now that we have a playoff, and since Heisman voters often send their ballots in early, you have players with as many as THREE games left when voters are selecting.
