There is tons of offensive talent in Texas, but not a whole lot of defensive talent.
And even when you do find talented defenders, they can often count the number of power run offenses they faced in high school on their fingers, and have some left over. The proliferation of of air raid offenses in Texas high schools has seriously undermined the development of defensive skills.
If Chavis is going to build an SEC caliber defense, he has to start pulling run stoppers out of Louisiana, and the deep south states.
