esus fricking Christ, you people hear something, and just repeat it without even fricking thinking about it. Forget basketball. Should a 1 seed IN ANY frickING SPORT YOU WANT TO PICK ever advance after losing to an 8 seed?

No, but that isn't what conference championship games (or conference tournaments) are for. They are separate from the national tournament, but can impact selection and seeding of course.

I'm not saying your tournament of champions idea is a terrible idea. I can appreciate that it has merit. I don't happen to like it because I actually like the uniqueness of college football in that it still has the greatest regular season of all the major sports in my opinion. Pretty much from that first game over Labor Day weekend you have this feeling that your season is in the balance. Every game feels huge. You don't get that in other sports.

I can appreciate the idea of making the conference title games/champions an extension of the national playoff, but I can't say I like the idea of 3 loss teams playing for the college football national title. I think rational people can disagree on this.

Wow, there's a rarity for the board.
