Put this in another thread but will repost here:
Would Houston or WVU be willing to hire him? Maybe. Is Houston big enough for him to leave here? I doubt it. WVU? Maybe

I don't believe this for various reasons, main one being I don't think a school of any importance would want to go through the trouble of poaching Botch this year Honestly it's probably a good thing, lots of big schools looking for coaches this cycle.......Oregon/Texas/etc.......would probably be better off coach hunting next year

Rumors on fl98 have said that Butch's agent told Houston he would be interested but they were not. If Holgerson leaves, I could definitely see WVU having some interest in butch or maybe it's just wishful thinking. West Virginia would be a good fit for that thin skinned nerd imo.
Does anyone know Butch's buyout amount if he leaves?

Guys... no one is gonna want him. He's our retard and we're just going to have to deal with him one more year.

Just an FYI, my best friend works at a prominent law firm in Knox and they periodically get nuggets of info.
He told me that they had for sure heard that Butch's agent had been instructed to "look around"
He also heard that there's one board of directors member who is blocking Blackburn's hiring, FWIW

I would bet it's Charlie Anderson. Same guy that fought for Dooley until the final minute and thought he deserved another year.
His slaw son or nephew plays for Alabama iirc

Lol if we miss on the obvious correct hire in Blackburn because of a high ranking booster that is pro-Dooley, I will probably light my hair on fire.

Where is he in the Hierarchy of boosters?

The Anderson Training Facility is named after him so I'm assuming way up there

Anderson is way up there and is active. We have a lot of big boosters but most aren't as active/vocal at he is.
Butch was a WR coach at WVU under RichRod.

I think the consensus among the fans is that Blackburn is who we want, the question is how do we stop Anderson from bringing in Currie?
Is there a business we can threaten to boycott or something?

From 2012:
"If Jones is fired without cause, Tennessee will owe him as much as $2 million per year, payable in monthly installments. If terminated, Jones is required to make “reasonable best efforts to mitigate the university’s obligation to pay liquid damage,” meaning UT would be relieved of his buyout payment should he find another job that pays him $2 million or more after he leaves. Tennessee would owe him the difference if he gets a job that pays him less than $2 million per year.
If he is fired with cause, UT would owe him no further money.
Jones would owe Tennessee $4 million if he terminates the contract without cause prior to Feb. 28, 2014. That number drops to $3 million between March 1, 2014 and Feb. 29, 2016 and then $2 million for the rest of the contract."
