The coaches didn't throw inaccurate passes, or drop passes or make a high snap on a FG attempt or allow a TD every time GT got in our redzone. Players have to take responsibility for their failed execution on the field

You won't get any argument out of me that the players ultimately let us down Saturday.

BUT,
That pass play on 2nd down, as freak of a INT as they come, should have never happened. GT couldn't stop us from running the ball. We literally needed 2 first downs to end the game. We would have made them burn their last 2 timeouts and drive the length of the field even if we had to punt. That was 100% a bad call. Eason fricked up, but it was a bad play call to begin with. That is on the coaches.

However, if I had to put percentages on the frick ups id say its def 10% Coaching and 90% players.

Our defense has got to understand that it must play defense the whole game. This year, I have felt like the defense is solid about 75% of the time. That other 25% is just garbage. No excuse for those receivers streaming down the field uncovered...NONE

While I agree with your sentiment, GT had begun to stop us running. the last 5 runs had gone for 3, 4 2 2 and 3 yards. There is a good chance they would have continued to load the box and we would have been stopped.

However, my point was let them stop us and punt the ball back to them. Give them the ball back with less than 2 minutes to go around their own 20. With a 6 point lead you NEVER throw the ball in your own territory with time running low.

Normall, yes. The Option, veer, whatever offense being run where a QB reads a defense puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the CB's and safetys. They have to come to the LOS very quickly to cover the trail guy in case the QB pitches the ball. Then the QB takes the snap and starts down the LOS like he is going to pitch and drops back and throws. It's just very, very tough on DB's.
