We had a thread on this the other looking at all of the composite computer rankings that Massey pulls together.

SEC had strongest avg. Rank in the country at about 40.

B1G was 3rd or 4th at an avg rank of 55.

With 4 or 5 teams in the top 20, an avg rank of 55 shows the disparity between the upper and lower echelons of the B1G.

I bet the SEC ends up with 10+ bowl teams and does pretty well as always.

The heavy middle tier teams in the SEC ensure fewer gimmes where the upper tier team just show up and blow out a far inferior opponent. About 5 teams in the B1G fit that category.
