I am not saying we locked up a trip to the Sugar Bowl, but I think we're heavy favorites to earn the selection.
Assumptions:
-CFB only takes 1 team from each conference.
-Alabama wins out
-Tennessee wins the east
I don't think anything I stated is unlikely. In fact I would say it is the most probable scenario.
By UT winning the east and Bama winning out that means at least 1 more loss to LSU, Auburn, & Tennessee which gives each 3 at a minimum.
We sit 6-1 with only 2 real games left on the schedule. We should be favored in all, but lets just say we drop 1 to LSU. We finish 10-2 (6-2) alone or tied in 2nd depending on how everything else plays out. 10-2 trumps LSU's best case of 8-3, Auburn's 9-3, and Tenn's 10-3.
The only team I didn't factor in yet is UF. UF still has UGA, @Ark, USC, @LSU, @FSU with no byes in between. If we keep the assumption that UT wins the east, and with that finishing schedule I think it is a safe bet, UF drops at least one more making their best case scenario 9-2 (6-2). It would be a strong resume, but I still think we would have the edge and I don't think UF finishes with less than 3 losses anyway.
Final thought: Should I buy my Sugar Bowl tickets now?

Hotels in Nola are expensive for NY weekend. Gonna wait until I know we are going to make any arrangements.
