I think the SEC is suffering right now from a lack of competition. No one wants to tune in and watch Bama win games by 40 points. But there seems to also be a lack of familiar coaches and players on the sidelines. While Bama has dominated the past few years, they've had a new QB for four years in a row. Outside of the loyal fans who are going to watch no matter what, I think this lack of familiarity is causing a lot of the casual viewers to look elsewhere.

I think the Bama/aTm game will have good ratings this weekend. #1 vs #6 will get viewers.

It should, if its competitive after halftime it should produce the best ratings of the year for CBS. Not just because it would be a good game between two highly ranked teams, but because the competition during that window is weak to say the least. Purdue vs. Nebraska and TCU vs. West Virginia are the two main games going on at the same time (ABC split coverage). FOX will be airing the UCLA vs. Utah game, which again shouldn't draw too many folks away.

It will, until Bama's up by 3 TDs.
