Mizzou's facilities aren't and were never the problem or solution. Pinkel didn't go after the top players. He recruited 3 star kids that he was confident would be in the system for 5 years. Those kids weren't being recruited by the big schools with the Taj Mahal facilities in the first place. Besides there is no way to buy your way into recruiting, T Boone tried it at Okie Lite to the tune of 450 million, Under Armour tried it at Maryland (they built 2 training facilities), even Nike's investment in Oregon went to hell once Kelly left, hence their lack of talent and inability to recruit a QB even with Mariotta winning the Heisman.

BO currently has more long snappers committed than DE's and DL's combined. He's now getting down to the leftover kids, how many of those kids fit his new defensive scheme? You can't make wholesale changes without a solid recruiting plan. Even the protest should have helped recruiting. While it upset whites, having black athletes stand up for something black families face daily is not a negative, it's very positive. And lets face it, most recruits are black.

for those who say the athletes are acting "spoiled." Imagine working your arse off and doing your job better than most everyone in the country, you're in line for a big promotion, and your boss wants you to start at square one. Now you suck at your job and the promotion is at risk...it would be a bit frustrating to say the least.

Facilities are most certainly an issue. Not the only issue, but a major one.

Pinkel recruited several highly ranked kids every year. He just rarely signed them. He was even quoted that if he could recruit a class full of 4/5 star kids that he would much prefer to do that, but he couldn't so he had to make what he could get work.
