If irc, TAMU and FSU were our top pick(s) in '92.

In '92, TAMU said that they wouldn't join the SEC, because Texas didn't want to join. What kind of pansies need permission from their primary rival to join a conference?

Not true. Texas politics kept us out and could have again if they were in session this last round.

The kind that have politicians who meddle with their conference alignment. The Big 12 in its current form is the proof of that.

The only reason we got the political cover to do it this time was because:

1. The LHN (basically we argued effectively "they got their toy so we want ours")

2. The Texas AD promised to keep the Big 12 together at least for a little while

Ann Richards was the Texas Governor at that time. She was a Baylor grad hack who screwed Texas A&M over every chance she got.

She used her power to make sure there was a Big 12 and that Baylor was in it.

We had no chance.
