It's pointless to ask. Let the corndogs discuss it, because a significant majority of the time, the only thing that's easy to predict is whether a new coach will be generally successful. CFB coaching history is littered with home-run hires that didn't pan out and under-the-radar ones that did.

Really, just look at Urban or Saban. Nothing special distinguished them in their previous milieus. Urban did really well at Utah (and pretty well at BG) but lots of lower division school coaches have done that before flaming out in the big leagues. Urban brought UF back to Spurrier glory. Saban did okay at Michigan State, and, admittedly, he basically resurrected the program, but there was no reason to think he'd win a national title withing 4 years of arriving at a broken-down LSU program.

What I'm trying to say is, the dice are only slightly loaded. It's still a gamble.
