UTK Football Parking Question for a Neyland Noob?

Hi Guys, Sorry for posting this here but I don't have permission to post on the UT board...
My son is a Freshman at UTK and I'm attending my first game at Neyland Saturday. I plan on getting there early, 7 or 8. My son lives in Hess and I plan on meeting him there. Where is a reliable place to park on that side of campus on game days? I just don't want to get stuck driving all over the place looking for a spot. I appreciate the help!

Bring $30 and find a spot in the fort or park downtown and shuttle to campus. Unless things have changed there isn't much visitor parking on campus

I don't mind parking in Fort Sanders and walking. Do you know of any good lots that should be open that early? I'm not as familiar with downtown.

Pretty much anywhere in the fort should work. Most people sell their personal spots for $10-20 and you can walk from there. If you park Dtown there are quite a few garages around Market Square, behind Regal Riviera, or the Locus St Garage (which is what I would recommend). But if you park dtown wear shoes you are wanting to do a lot of walking in.

Campus and Cumberland area all torn to hell with construction. The downtown Methodist church on the campus side of downtown (Church Street) would be a good option.

Parking in the Fort is going to be your best option. Also - do a little map study on the best way to get to the interstate. Traffic is a nightmare after the game so you wan to be as close to an exit as possible.
My old house was on 16th and highland so I always try to park near there. It's a good spot if you get anything within a few blocks.

Lake avenue has street parking and isn't a far walk from Hess.

Yeah if you can get in Lake Ave do it, but expect traffic.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I used the Lake Avenue garage during move in and that wasn't a bad walk to Hess at all. I may just get there really early and try to grab one of the street parking spots there. I'm not too concerned about post-game traffic as we're going to hang out for a bit and take my son to dinner (I swear that's the only reason he wants us to come!
)

If he parks downtown there are shuttles going back and forth before and after the game. I think it costs $5 and he could go to dinner with his son downtown.

True, Downtown Grill and Brewery is calling my name next weekend...been a hot minute since I've been up to Knoxville.

As a recent graduate looking back on freshman year I would have to agree.
