I can respect that they're trying to build a real fortress. A truly sound defense that isn't reliant on high risk pass rushing.
The truth is many of these DLmen who have gone to the league weren't anything special, they just benefited from the system.
Harris and others wanted the gravy train to keep running. Millions are at stake for him. Of course he wants those inflated stats.
Mark me down as someone who is willing to go through some growing pains to build this defense with a strong true foundation instead of a flash 'n dash brand.
Anyone can see how the offense's new system needs to be tuned. It's got to be the same thing going on with the defense.
Calm down.

I don't know if happened to watch the super bowl but Kony Ealy was amazing and would have been MVP if panthers had won. And Shane Ray looked great too in that game.
Cross is pulling the same shite as Henson and ricker last year. "We are going to do a new system on the OL and eventually they will learn it". Cross is using the same bullshite line to institute his brilliant close the gap system. Only, it is not working.
This stubbornness is the arrogance of Coordinator's who are trying to prove their theory of defensive strategy. problem is it's just academic if the skill set of the players has proven to work in another system.
Cross- stop trying to work your theories into a HC job for you next season and let our defense loose to do what they do.

That's not accurate.
Inflated stats? Do you not realize how much a sack or TFL hampers a drive? Flash and dash? Build a solid foundation? We HAD a solid foundation. We HAD an identity and we HAD results. Now, thus far anyway, we have a below average unit with a ton of infighting and we've lost our identity. This is something that quietly bothered me all offseason and my fears are coming to fruition.
The offense is the opposite case, it was flat awful last year and not very good the year before. Obviously something had to change and now the unit that had pretty much no proven returners is ahead of the one that had a ton of them. That's an issue. Tinkering with things that are not broke just isn't a sound strategy.
If we hadn't changed defensive philosophy how do you think this group of players would be performing right now? I'd have to wager a large sum that we'd be getting much better results.
