All of the other sec qb's also have dump offs and screens.

Eason is #1 in ypa.

True. But the point was that he is not throwing long passes, they are short passes. He is not getting his yards from bombs. We were discussing his arm strength.

He is running the plays is being given. Of the passes he has thrown, three of his deep passes have either been under thrown or wobbly and out of bounds. Most of his yards are coming from short passes.

I'd be surprised if Eason was getting most of his yards from long bombs. The goal is to move the ball down the field and there are many ways to do that.

Eason can throw those bombs, which opens up the playbook for him. He doesn't have to do it every play, just a few times a game, and that will keep the safeties honest and help prevent them from loading the box. The problem with Lambert is that everyone knows he isn't going to throw it deep, so loading the box can be done every play. Eason throwing deep can only help improve our run game as well as help our 2-minute offense (once he gets trusted with the keys); we need the ability to have explosive plays.
