And I want to be clear- I am not saying LSU can't hire a good coach. I think even Joe could easily hire (for example) Kiffin if he wanted, hell Saban might even wrap him with a bow for yall like he did with Smart and Georgia. And I think Kiffin- along with a dozen other coaches- could have success at LSU. My point isn't yall won't make a good hire.

My point has to do with the LSU mindset, in particular the huge disconnect between "firing Les" and "hiring for sure a guy who we all like."

Exactly my point. If local incompetent politicians screw up the hire of the freaking basketball coach there is a 100% chance they will stick their fingers in the stew when it comes to hiring a football coach.

Herman will take one look at a situation where the governor expects his feet to be kissed and say "frick that, I can wait it out for the Texas job."
