Sarkisian will be interviewing about a potential role as a special assistant to the offense. The No. 1 Crimson Tide opened the season Saturday with a 52-6 thrashing of the team that fired Sarkisian last season. Alabama officials declined to comment.

Just a question :
How does the NCAA handle "special assistants"? I'm sure there's a limit on how many coaches teams can have.

They regulate what they can do.

No player interaction, no recruiting, and no practice or game participation.

He can watch the latter 2, but cannot contribute in any way live.

I'm OK with it as long as he can stay away from the sauce. He's a good coach and recruiter.

So smart to do this 1 year ahead of time. Have to find out if he can handle himself and see it personally. If not, he won't be around. If so he will be comfrotably living in Tuscaloosa and prepared to take over. Saban always 1 step ahead
