There have been 3 major overdose episodes in Kentucky within the past few weeks because heroin is being spiked with fentanyl.
I lost a very, very close friend to this. She and I were roomies in Wilmington and we were moving to another house.
She had battled addiction for a good while, but she'd been attending NA, had a sponsor, was working the steps, involved in service work...she was really doing well. Or so we all thought. The day we were to be completely moved, she went to the downstairs bathroom and was in there for a long time before I realized she had not come out. I banged and banged on the door but got no response and I had that sick, sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I managed to break the door down somehow and she was slumped over on the floor, needle still in between her toes (that's how she had been able to hide the track marks by banging between her toes) and vomit everywhere..and she was cyanotic, unresponsive with no respiratory effort nor pulse.
I called 911 and being a trauma nurse is what allowed me to compartmentalize her being one of my best friends so that I was able to not freak the frick out and perform CPR until EMS arrived.
Toxicology reports showed it was, indeed, black tar heroin spiked with fentanyl. I have zero doubt that she had no idea it contained fentanyl.
She was placed on life support until her mom arrived from Pennsylvania. Allie was brain dead. Her death did save 5 other people from organ donation, so part of her lives on thru others.
Miss her everyday, though.

Such a heart-wrenching story. One that is playing out at an increasing rate here in Kentucky.
There was yet another mass-overdose episode yesterday, this time in Louisville. It, of course, involved fentanyl-spiked heroin.
People in Cincinnati have been arrested but the epidemic of heroin overdoses and deaths in Kentucky continues unabated. So tragic.

I think we should let all druggies kill themselves by OD. Darwinism.

The most ignorant statement EVER made, and not just on this site.
If I said what I really feel like saying to your uneducated, sociopathic, waste of human flesh meat suit, I would be permabanned from this site.
It really is sad to know creatures such as you even exist.

Do you drink Coca Cola? Do you take OTC items such as Claritan or Tylenol? If so you should kill yourself also, by your own standard.

sign me up for the drug that doesn't frick you up more, gives you the wobbles and makes you vomit when you take too much
right up my alley

Seriously sounds like the opposite of everything I want if I am going to use drugs

Yeah man sounds awesome
What, none of you guys like to drink? Wobbly, vomiting, reaching a point where doing more no longer gets you fricked up, but instead just plain fricks you up. Sounds a lot like a very unpopular drug called alcohol.

Jesus Christ. First, calm down. Next, get your fricking life together and find something to do with it other than drugs.
If you're that panicked over this issue, that's a sure sign that you can't cope.
Venting about something isn't the same as being unable to cope. You could say the same thing about the people who get all worked up into a lather when gun control is brought up. It's a common reaction when something you think is really fun, that you enjoy responsibly, is threatened to be taken from you for substandard reasoning.
