Mizzou fans, not trolling

In all honesty, how does the state like college football compared to Kansas City and St. Louis? Is Mizzou more loved outside KC and STL? Having lived in KC the past two years as an Arkansas fan and SEC fan they did not seem to care as much.

KC and STL are definitely both pro sports towns. There are tons of Mizzou fans in both cities though.

I enjoyed KC, but during football season it was hard to talk college ball because of the Chiefs and the Royals and quite a few Jayhawk transplants

Can't speak for KC, but you can talk college football almost anytime in STL. Yes, we'll also talk Cards and Blues or whatever, but it is possible to enjoy more than just the one. Will that make it seem like the people in STL aren't into college football? I suppose, because they have more than only that to follow as opposed to a state where that's all there is.

I'm betting Arkansas would be much the same way if we got a pro team. There would be just as many Razorback fans around as before, but the excitement would have to be shared with an NFL team that we felt very intimate with. Arkansas not having a pro team is honestly the reason I just can't commit long term to watching the NFL. I don't feel any sense of connection with any of the teams.

I went to the Hogs/Tigers game in COMO in 2014 and although we lost, it seemed like a good SEC town. I understand having more than one sport would give one more to talk about. Growing up in Arkansas, the Razorbacks are all we talked about and living in KC it was odd not to hear college football year round.

Honestly never felt much of a connection with the Rams when they were here. Sure it was fun when the won the Super Bowl, but I had no deep seeded love for them.
It will still take time, but there is definitely 10x's as much coverage of Mizzou football in the STL since the move to the SEC.

Before the move to the SEC and maybe even before GP turned things around, you could go months if not a year without hearing anything Mizzou football related on the radio. You would hear basketball. Now, it's completely flipped.

I am assuming, due to the the border, that Jayhawk transplants have ruined any constant talk of college football in KC?

I've been to plenty of Mizzou baseball games. In fact, probably more Mizzou games than Cards games in the last year.
So honest question. Did you lose a bet some time back and banned yourself from tRant or did you just disappear while Arky struggled? I got respect for the Arky fans that stuck around through the lean years. Not so much for those that only show up when you win a couple of games.

Yeah, again, can't really speak for KC. I know in STL there is more and more college football talk. Not quite to the same extent and certainly not the same level of hate, but STL has a lot of Illinois alum in the area. Doesn't stop about 90% of the coverage still focusing on Mizzou.

Just out of curiosity, if you polled the STL population asking them who their favorite sports team was regardless of which sport it was, how would results look?
10% Blues
50% Cardinals
40% Tigers ......for example.
I truly have no idea since I dont live in a pro sports market.

Just my honest opinion, I think that the SEC did consider Missouri a southern market but underestimated the hold that pro sports has on KC and STL.
