look at the teams from the west tennessee has played. look at the teams OOC Butch has played. look at Arkansas' record against the East if you're trying to use that as a crutch for Butch

Except that's not an excuse. Sure, Tennessee gets Alabama every year-- but they largely have gotten to avoid the better division-- you'd take 6 games against East teams, over any 6 games against West teams, no matter how you chose to arrange the two out of division foes, every single year.

The 'He Lost To Toledo!' bit gets bandied about a lot because arkansas had no business losing to them at home or at all

Except it happens. Not just to Arkansas, but to other programs-- even programs with National title pedigrees in the past decade. Yeah, the loss sucks. It isn't like losing to the Citadel or Georgia Southern, though. Still, those programs get passes-- and it isn't linked to their success level.

They just weren't a P5 team you want to knock Butch for the east being down. do you think his east opponents are any worse than freaking toledo? can't have it both ways

They'd be at the very least competitive with the Vanderbilt/South Carolina/Kentucky murderer's row that makes up half of the divisional opponents of Tennessee.

His classes were built on bulk signings of skill position players, most of whom worked out of the program or left even before he did Butch entered into a similar situation. dooley went an entire recruiting cycle without signing a single OL

Tennessee also enjoyed significantly higher player retention rates, so even when they recruited a dearth of players at a position under Dooley, they weren't nearly so undermanned by desertions.

i know you believe this, but i just disagree with it

Yeah, you're wrong. When Tennessee wins 9 games by beating the fluff out of the 4 of the worst teams in the SEC this year, sweeping non-con, and beating one of the four real teams they play this year, it'll be a good enough year for Butch.

Arkansas will likely go 3-1 in non-con, losing to the good opponent, and split the conference games for a worse record while having a better football team. Not everyone has the luxury of playing in the lesser division.

Just which arse did you pull this out of? Dooley's attrition rate was so bad - he even ran off ex-players.
