Why take over at midseason? Two of the first three games are huge, if he's the best guy, despite his Freshman status, play him. That's big time experience right there. The last thing I want is to go into the Tennessee or LSU games with Hurts barely having any experience, if he's the guy by then.

Well if he fricks up big-time against USC, it could kill his confidence. If you bring him along slowly, giving him 2-3 series against USC and then progressively more, he can build confidence and be ready to lead the team by UT or sooner. Look at the way Tebow was managed with Chris Leak. Even the great Tebow needed to be brought along slowly as a TF. Saban won't throw him to the wolves, he will be brought along slowly until he is ready.
