American soldiers that did what? Fought against the US.

Again, this isn't a debate about why the war started or why each individual solider was on the battlefield but fought against the US they did and fought hard.

You can't actually be naive enough to think Confederate statues, put in place so long after the war as you mentioned were some pro American move do you?

And yes, I do know all that about Lincoln and its origins (which originally had blackface when performed by the way)

Like I said, I actually like the song. But it was a de facto anthem of a country that was a great enemy of the US, like it or not.
