We played Elvis' America trilogy after games a few years back but IIRC there was copyright infringement stuff and we had to quit. Nobody stayed in the stadium for it anyway.

That's simply a matter of paying for a mechanical license. Your band likely does it for everything they play that isn't public domain. Churches do it for songs played during their services.

Politicians do it all the time for songs they want to use - and most of the time the artist doesn't even have the right to make a candidate stop using a song even if the artist isn't a supporter.
