USC dynasty in which they obliterated 2/3 of their league every season and had no threats

Exaggerated. 2/3 certainly isn't accurate and they had threats. You ignored my point that the only teams who could beat USCw were teams within their own conference.

It certainly was a slight to USC - not that it was your primary intention. It was when I mentioned their performance against SEC schools during that era you started backpedaling and defending their successes. It's not hard to figure out the SEC strongly dislikes USCw...

2003 / 2004 seasons are big reasons. Split title in 2003 and Auburn's 2004 tantrum even though they did not have a convincing win over their Sugar Bowl opponent, Virginia Tech.

That VT team hung with USC earlier in the year and had a really good defense on top of beating two top ten teams in Miami and West Virginia.

Pac 10 teams that finished the season ranked during USC's run
2002 - #4 USC, #10 Washington State
2003 - #1 USC, #9 Washington State
2004 - #1 USC, #9 Cal, #19 Arizona St
2005 - #2 USC, #13 Oregon, #16 UCLA, #25 Cal
2006 - #4 USC, #14 Cal, #21 Oregon St
2007 - #3 USC, #16 Arizona St, #23 Oregon, #25 Oregon St
2008 - #3 USC, #10 Oregon, #19 Oregon State

Teams that finished in the Top 25 that Alabama played in the SEC since 2008
2008 - #1 Florida, #6 Alabama, #13 Georgia, #14 Ole Miss
2009 - #1 Alabama, #3 Florida, #17 LSU, #20 Ole Miss
2010 - #1 Auburn, #8 LSU, #10 Alabama, #12 Arkansas, #15 Mississippi State, #22 South Carolina
2011 - #1 Alabama, #2 LSU, #5 Arkansas
2012 - #1 Alabama, #5 Georgia, #5 Texas A&M, #14 LSU
2013 - #2 Auburn, #7 Alabama, #14 LSU, #18 Texas A&M
2014 - #4 Alabama, #11 Mississippi St, #14 Missouri, #17 Ole Miss, #22 Auburn
2015 - #1 Alabama, #10 Ole Miss, #16 LSU, #22 Tennessee, #25 Florida

Again - there was no national threat to USC during their reign over the Pac 12. There were always 1-2 other pretty good, Top 20 level teams, and then a bunch of 9-4/8-5 teams. USC would slip up and lose a game every couple years to Oregon State, but that didn't make Oregon State a threat to win the Pac 10.

If you can't see the comparison between that and the current SEC West, then you aren't trying to understand my point. Alabama is always under attack from various very talented, very good divisional opponents. There is almost no margin for error. Therefore, it isn't like all of a sudden Alabama fans "fear LSU" because someone is coming up to take us out. It's like this EVERY SEASON.

Hu? Again, I have no dislike for USC. I look at their run in the 2000s as one of the 2-3 best of the past 30 years. You are creating a narrative that doesn't exist. My team sucked when USC was great. I didn't care much about how they did vs the SEC. Hell, I loved when they pounded Auburn.
