It is also worth noting that the naming of this hall (and the receipt of $50k from the Daughters of the Confederacy for the naming rights) pre-dated its association with Vanderbilt. This dormitory is on the old George Peabody College for Teachers campus, which merged with Vanderbilt in 1979.
