Turns out the last basketball game he called was a warmup for his new job. South Carolina play-by-play man Andy Demetra, who has broadcast Gamecock men’s basketball and baseball since 2009 and said two of the most famous lines in USC radio history, is taking over play-by-play duties at Georgia Tech, a source close to the situation confirmed on Monday. Demetra replaces Brandon Gaudin, who left Tech in June to be the new voice for the EA Madden video game franchise.

At Tech, Demetra will take over football play-by-play besides basketball. The Jackets’ first game this year is facing Boston College in Dublin, Ireland.

Andy Demetra should have been calling South Carolina football games.

I don't really listen to a lot of our games on the radio, so I don't know Andy Demetra's work that well. I remember him from calling some baseball games before the SECN/SECN+/ESPN started broadcasting the games more.

So I'm happy for Andy if that's what he wants, I really won't even notice he's gone though, personally. We'll get someone else. Also, I like Todd Ellis, he's one of the only announcers that really knows about the mythical 55 yard line.

Agreed. Todd and Tommy should be dual color guys. Hire a pro to do the PxP.

Demetra was great for basketball and baseball.

I Don't mind Ellis so much probably because I keep D&D in my head. Tommy bogs down the broadcast so much though.

I agree Andy Demetra had the clearer more professional voice and I'm sure he is looking at getting into the broadcast booth in front of the cameras one day. Wish him the best in his journey but I kinda like the Old Homer feel to Ellis he gets all excited and flustered, ya'know like a true Gamecock fan does throughout the game.
