But for what reason is he not deserving of being in college (and keep in mind we're talking about a D-II or D-III public university, not Harvard or UVA or Cal-Berkeley)?

Look at his family background (or lack thereof) and look at the school system he attended in the community tin which it was located. That kid never had a chance in hell of ever being taught anything other than his physical stature and talent on a football field being the only thing that mattered about him. If EMCC does one thing right, it's showing guys like Ollie that his value as a person can extend far beyond what he does on a football field.

For this reason and for the fact that Ollie's playing career is going to come to an end sooner rather than later, I have no problem with colleges and universities admitting guys that have lower academic profiles and clean behavioral records. Someone needs to teach them about life and, obviously, our public school system isn't going to do it. So what's wrong with a kid physically working his arse off to mentally better himself?
