The Bama D looked beaten down, a rare thing for a Saban D.

There's no doubt they were mentally beaten down at the end.

They didn't have an answer for Garcia at all. He was absolute money every time they needed it.

30+ defeat for any great program wont happen often.

I also think Utah really put it to Bama FWIW despite if they cut it down.

The one game where he was outstanding, but even in his best game he still had to make one play that left you scratching your head LINK

Bama went 6-5 that year and it's his favorite win ever

Of course they tore the goalposts the previous season after beating a 3-8 Bama team

Damn.

It's a 3 point difference. My bad I forgot y'all impressive field goal. The 3 points really took away my overall point though.

Except your overall point isn't accurate. As I said above, Alabama had the ball with a 2nd and 5 inside the USC 20 only down 7 with 12:00 left in the game.

Your defense rose up and knocked McElroy out of the series and Bama turned it over on downs. It was only after that point that you put the game away with a long drive.

I'm not taking away from the win. USC played lights out, but the narrative that they ran off and hid simply isn't accurate.

Is this not an answer? We stopped y'all and then scored.

It doesn't matter. I agree that it wasn't a blowout. Alabama did have a chance, but we stopped it. In the long run though, it's a meaningless game other than it being the first time we beat a #1 ranked team, won on gameday, and won on CBS.

The last time I saw Bama look hopeless with no answers was against Carolina in 2010. That was a solid whopping from begining to end. It only ended up being a 2 td win, but felt way worse.

It was really more of a back and forth game than you think.
quote:

Alabama scored first (field goal) to go up 3-0.

Carolina (aka Marcus Lattimore, Alshon Jeffrey, and Stephen Garcia) then proceeded to kick arse and score 3 straight tds. 21-3.

Alabama scored right before half. 21-9.

Garcia fumbled in the end zone to start the second half for an Alabama safety 21-11. Then, Alabama got another field goal...21-14.

South Carolina then went on a long, long drive and went up 28-14.

Alabama turned right around and hit a bomb to make it 28-21.

South Carolina then went on another long, 8 minute or so drive to put the dagger in 35-21.

Garcia went 17/20 - 201 yards - 3tds -1int
Lattimore had 93 yards on 23 carries and 2 tds.
Alshon had 7 catches for 130 yards and 2tds.

The standards for what is called "domination" or a blowout get lowered for Alabama because true beatdowns never happen. It basically just means Bama got outplayed. I've heard tons of people say it about A&M and OSU, and those were tight games throughout that came down to the final minutes, and a margin of 1 TD

The fact of the matter is, Alabama hasn't been truly blown out on the scoreboard since 2003 when LSU beat them 27-3 in Tuscaloosa.

The last time Alabama got blown out on the field was probably the '05 Iron Bowl. The final score was 28-18 but Auburn ran over us on both sides of the ball that day. That game was easily the most lopsided of Auburn's six straight wins over us.

Texas had the ball on their own 10, down 3 with 3:00 left in the game.

Oh yeah, with a true freshman playing 90% of the game.

Recently? Probably OU. I have never seen a saban Oline with that much NFL talent get blown up like it did in that sugar bowl. AJ got sacked sooooo many times give that kid credit for getting up and hanging in there. That game wasn't 30 points but Alabama had no answer at the line of scrimmage.
