A wasted vote is voting for the lesser of two evils even though you don't like either candidate. My vote for Gary Johnson is not a wasted vote. It would be a waste if I resorted to voting for one of two candidates that I absolutely hate and disagree with on almost everything.

There are millions of people who say "I would vote for Johnson, but he doesn't stand a chance." Well, maybe if all of these people who agree with Johnson but won't vote for him because they don't think he stands a chance would actually vote... well, me might stand a chance.

Sorry, as idealistic as you think you're being, it's still wasted. I completely understand what you are saying, but in the absence of a viable Libertarian party it really is a wasted vote.

Even if he could get elected, he would accomplish absolutely nothing. If you truly don't want to waste your vote, work at the local and congressional level. Win seats, and then maybe a presidential vote for a Libertarian could mean something.
