You do realize this same philosophy applies to pretty much the entire competitive world, dont you.
You never hear a guy say, "hey set that bar a little lower, so I know I can make it" or "Hey, lets try to finish second, so if we get first we can be happier", or "Take a few lbs off that bar, I'd like to easily lift it"

Do you know how good sales management weeds out the weak and lazy?...
And since you think it only refers to sales, do you know why the asian auto industry decimated the Americans? it wasnt because of sales it was because of production and standards. Go look at how they set their goals for those two items.
