FSU back in the day was top 5 every single season for 14 years- that's insane.

Had Florida, Florida State, AND Miami not been so dominant during that time period, any of the three would have likely dominated the football world like no program before or since.

Just check the AP Poll finishes from 1990-1996 for each team:

Florida: #13, #17, #10, #5, #7, #2, #1
Florida St.: #4, #4, #2, #1, #4, #4, #3
Miami: #3, #1, #3, #15, #6, #20

Those were the top 3 programs in the AP poll during that 7-year stretch, and all three are located in the same state.

Miami won 4 National Championships between 1983-1991.... had FSU and Florida not popped on the scene in the late '80s / early '90s, its highly likely Miami would have kept on winning titles all the way through the 1990s. They won another in 2001 and finished in the Top 2 each year from 2000-2002.

They were good in the 1990s, finishing ranked in the Top 20 every year except 1997. But FSU and UF took away a lot of their strength during that time.

From 1990-2000, Florida State just lost 6 games to opponents that were not Florida or Miami. Those 6 opponents were:

#19 Auburn (1990)
NR NC State (1998)

From 1990-2000, Florida only lost 16 games to opponents other than Florida State or Miami. Those 16 losses were to:

Then of those 16 non-state-of-Florida losses were against teams that finished in the Top 10.... 3 were against eventual National Champions.
