This is quintessentially Pascal's wager.

In the 1600's Blaise Pascal basically made a logical conclusion to believe in god. Stating that it makes no sense to not believe in god, becuase if you don't believe in god and he does exist you go to hell. If you do believe in god and he doesn't exist, nothing happens anyway.


I've always taken the stance that if there is a god, and he is omniscient and omnipotent, wouldn't he know that you really don't have faith in him and that you are just going through the motions just to get in hell? The entire point of the Beatitudes in the New Testament, okay not all of it but a hell of a lot of it dealt with false prophets and fake Christians who wouldn't get into heaven. In the Devine Comedy, Dante's Inferno's first level of hell, Limbo, is devoted to these people.. virtuous atheists, non believers who led good lives


Actually, according to the bible and to God you're better off being a true non believer but living a good live then pretending to believe in something that you don't. In the bible Jesus died and went down to hell to get Moses, Abraham, etc who were not baptized, and took them to heaven. Believing in god "just so you can get in heven in case there is one" is fraud, and that's the 8th, the next to last, level of hell.


I depiste modern day Christians. They've watered it down to the point that all you have to do is "believe' and you get in heaven and every last one of them will go to hell, if the bible is true. The people who love god but hate "urban youths" are going to hell. The people who go to church then go to the club and have pre martial sex are going to hell. The people who do not tithe are going to hell. The people who do not share with the unfortunate are going to hell. According to the bible. But hey, frick all that lol that's hard. All you need to do is come and put some money in this collection plate and it's all good . God I hate Christians.

according to the bible, everyone in the bible up until jesus's death.. accept Job, who for some reason was allowed to assent directly to heaven, was in hell. That's the reason Jesus took 3 days to raise from the dead, he wsa in hell getting all the non baptized.
